SHS Live started out as, simply, an assignment. When Springville High School opened up it’s Television Broadcasting and Video Production courses in the fall of 2009, it needed an identity. Students were asked to come up with a name for the school’s production unit which was both catchy and tasteful. Thus, SHS Live was born.
From there, SHS Live have taken off. It started as simply a class blog and has since blossomed into an entire network where both students and parents can go to see what’s happening at Springville High School, participate in different events, provide valuable information, and even stay on top of assignments and what’s being covered in classes via Teacher Blogs! The SHS Live Network truly is a revolution in education.
The goal of SHS Live is not only to build technical skill sets, but to educate students on the influence of media and how to communicate more effectively. Every student who enters SHS should leave with a deeper knowledge of how media works. They should leave with the skills needed to change the world. And most of all, they should leave as better people.
As SHS Live grows, it will not only reshape how students and community members learn and interact with each other, it will change the very nature of education.
